      What is Asbestos

Asbestos is a mineral fibre once commonly used in construction and various industries for its durability, low cost, and insulating qualities. However, exposure to asbestos can lead to serious health conditions such as lung cancer, asbestosis, and messothelioma. Due to these risks, asbestos was banned in Australia in 2003, but it may still be present in older homes and buildings, especially those constructed before 1990.

      Where is Asbestos found

      Asbestos is often present in:
      Roofing materials, guttering, and downpipes
Cladding for walls, both external and internal
Floor coverings like vinyl and timber underlay
      Fencing, garden structures, and pipes
      Insulation and fireproofing

Avoid Mixing Asbestos with General Waste

Never mix asbestos waste with general construction or household rubbish in a regular skip bin. All waste facilities will reject a skip bin that hasn't been properly prepared for asbestos disposal. By hiring an asbestos skip bin from Skip Bins Online, you ensure safe management of the waste, protecting the health of workers, neighnours, and the environment

The Importance of Safe Asbestos Disposal

Asbestos materials become hazardous when disturbed, releasing harmful fibres into the air. Improper handling and disposal can pose serious health risks. In Australia, regulations mandate that only licensed professionals remove and dispose of abestos using approved methods to ensure safety.

Why You Need A Specialised Skip Bin for Asbestos

Asbestos cannot be thrown away in a regular skip bin or with household waste. Regulations require it to be placed in specially lined skip bins for safe transport and disposal at locensed facilities.

How to Hire an Asbestos Skip Bin

If you need to dispose of asbestos, simply contact Skip Bins Online to hire an asbestos skip bin. Here's how the process works:
Assesment: A licensed asbestos assessor will inspect your property to identify asbestos containing materials
Removal: Qualified professionals will safely remove and place it in a specially lined skip bin.
Disposal: Once the asbestos is securely contained, the skip bin will be transported to a certified disposal facility.

      Regulations and Safety Measures

Asbestos handling and removal must follow Australian safety regulations.
Homeowners can remove small amounts (under 10 square metres), but due to health risks, hiring licensed professionals is stringly recommended. Professionals follow strict guidelines, use proper protective gear, and monitor air quality to ensure safe removal. If home renovators choose to remove asbestos themselves, they must wear the appropriate safty gear, including respirators and protective clothing, to reduce exposure risks.
